Prayer request

Because of the crises worldwide and the fall of the banking system in Iceland in October 2008, the debts that Teen Challenge Iceland has because of the new building (see article below) has doubled. Because of that TC Iceland has lost the part they owned in the house (savings for the last 35 years). Now the creditor (Landsbankinn) is going to take over the building, which will leave us with no building for our headquarters, outpatient unit (counseling) and community center (meetings).

Our prayer request is that we will be able to keep or stay in our building which we have already modified for our work.

New Building

In November 2005, we bought a new building that will house our Headquarters, Outpatient Unit and Community Centre. The building is at Stangarhylur 3A which is located near the main street Miklabraut, so it is easy accessible from every part of the city. For the past four years or so, the number of people who either want to enter our program or get support either in the Outpatient Unit or Community Centre, has been growing very fast, so it has been one of our biggest need to get a new building.

Our biggest prayer request today is that we will get a new building or land for new Centre. We have approx more than 1200 applications for treatment per year but only around 270 individuals can enter per year. We need governmental help to do this but no, so far, solution has been decided yet though many positive things have come out of discussions we have had with officials.

New site

We are plunging forward with this new website for Teen Challenge in Iceland. We believe there will be more material in here before too long. However, at least here is contact information and more news coming. For example, we had two young men go to Portugal this summer and they came back exited and on fire. We will be sharing more about that.
